Detailed description of South Shore Country Club
South Shore Country Club is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Hamburg, New York.
South Shore Country Club first opened for play in 1920. The course was designed by Wayne Stiles and John Van Kleek.
South Shore Country Club is known for its mature and scenic beauty, South Shore has 150 acres of woodlands, rolling hills, and water holes. Yes, there are lakes and creeks and the odd chasm or two to carry but South Shore is a user friendly course with honest holes.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees the course plays to 6,384 yards. From the foward tees the course plays to 5,608 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 9, a par-5 that plays to 491 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 14, a par-3 that plays to 129 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 3, a 409 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at South Shore Country Club is # 1, a 286 yard par-4.

This course has a good layout, but that's all. greens in poor shape some not cut, hole grown over, never moved, I lost a ball in the middle of the fairway because of the lack of mowing. Someone should buy this course, invest big bucks and return it to what it must have been in the 50's. I'll never play it again. My back yard is in better shape!

The course is basically unplayable. A ball can be lost in the fairway. Grass near fairway is 10 inches tall. Greens are terrible. Grass is so thick that the size of the cup is diminished. This is an older course that was once very respectable but has become a neglected disaster.

Terrible shape. Grass not cut. Greens are cut bad. Looks like mower was crooked! Dam broke, lake empty! Lots of trash laying around. If league wasn't there, I wouldn't pay to play!

This course was at one time one of the best in the area, not anymore it is in a sad state, greens bad tees bad fairways sad, it was the worst conditioned course I have ever played.I will not be back, and I will tell friends sta away.

many new changes being made to the course in the past few years......greenskeeper that asks for your concerns , wooded areas being cleaned up , new sand being put into greenside bunkers...... course layout plays fairly easy , but pin position on a few of the greens can have you looking at bogey or worse. play from the tips , changes the course dramatically.two(2) of the three(3) par 5's can be reached in 2, making it good for your ego.....hope they keep up the positive changes.
